GPS Devices to Route Trains–Indian Railways to partner with ISRO

Our Indian Railways has now partnered with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to introduce a new Global Positioning System (GPS) in our trains.  CRIS, which is an Indian Railways IT part involved in this process. The main reason behind this GPS in our railways systems is to avoid accidents.

GPS devices will help to find other trains’ gauge location to prevent from accidents. The system will also guide them in scheduling, to know weather conditions so that they can avoid inconvenience and time lag. It has been fitted in many trains and will complete this by the end of 2013, the report says.

This GPS facilitates passengers to know their locality really costs about Rs 70,000 to Rs 1,00,000 for each train. It can also be used for the employers to track particular details and location, speed, status of the train and so CRIS and ISRO’s partnership  really make our Indian people to have a safe train trip.
